Good Morning Church!
The church of Christ on McDermott Rd, is truly blessed with a group of Elders who devote their lives to the spiritual leadership of this congregation, lovingly leading us by word and example.
Under the leadership of these men, God continues to bring people to this congregation. As a result, over 250 adults have joined McDermott Road since the 2022 Elder Nomination process.
Additionally, we now support 5 mission fields, 7 ministers, a ministry staff of 10, 21 ministry leaders and 32 Deacons who lead and coordinate various ministries, over 900 who attend service each week, and remote worship which is peaking at 530 households.
When these facts, along with our community’s needs, are considered in light of the Apostle Paul’s statement to Timothy that “God our Saviour, would have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (I Tim 2:3-4), we can conclude – if we, as a congregation, continue to live and labor to glorify our God in His earthly kingdom, we can expect to see additional members.
We can also conclude that the need for Elders who can protect, shepherd, teach, and administer to the flock will grow.
In light of these circumstances, the Elder Nominee Evaluation Group has been asked to return to work. Our Group, which includes myself, Scott Butler, AD Pinson, and Jim Cassity, is looking forward to working with you, as we work together with the Lord, to enable ourselves for service in His kingdom.
I pray that we will all engage to identify nominees; and I ask that we all pray the Lord God will identify the Brothers for this very important work.
We will communicate more about the process and the timeline for this important endeavor on February 2nd when the Nomination Period opens.
So, we ask you to begin thinking about men you would consider as potential nominees. As you reflect on the choices, you may find it helpful to consider these questions:
If the ministers and current elders were all unavailable, . . .
1. Who would I call if I had a question about the meaning and application of a passage of scripture?
2. Who would I call if I needed encouragement?
3. Who has the insight to help me with a complex personal problem?
4. Who inspires me to be a better servant of Christ by watching his joy of service?
5. Who leads my heart and mind when he words a prayer?
6. To whom could I confess a secret sin in confidence?
7. Who would come to the hospital to comfort me if I were sick or injured?
8. Who makes people feel welcome in this church and to his family?
9. Who is a Bible-class teacher I would be happy for a visitor from the outside to hear?
10. Who would I ask to help me present the gospel to a friend who is not a Christian?
Hopefully these questions will be helpful to you. Copies of these questions are available at the information counter.
Thank you
Conversations with Our Elders
In this video, hear from our current elders as they reflect on their experiences, the unity of the eldership, and the ongoing need for additional leaders to meet the spiritual needs of our growing congregation. They also share what they would want new members to know about our leadership and their vision for the future of the eldership.
