World Bible School Opportunity

We are presented with an opportunity to further expand our reach into the world of the lost.  This should be perfect for those of you who would like to be more involved in missions but can't because of work, age, family commitments, or money.

The opportunity is World Bible School.

WBS has developed all the materials.  They find the students.  Our job is to grade and return the course materials…and correspond with those who have questions.  You'll only get students who speak English.

Most of the requests come from Africa, India, or the Philippines.  Imagine being able to share the gospel with someone in those far away lands without even leaving your home.

A significant portion of the lessons are still sent by snail mail.  But increasingly, people there are getting access to the internet and are corresponding by email.

Our program can be as small, or as large as we would like.  Unlike a lot of other worthy projects, the limiting factor is not money…it's people.

To launch this program we need two things:

1)  A Coordinator

2)  A few folks who will give a few hours a month to grading lessons

Your involvement in this program might make the difference in someone else's life.  It will certainly make a difference in yours.

If interested, please contact Mark Bryson or John Hendry.

Mission Opportunity

There are many members of our congregation who would like to help with our mission work in Estonia, Honduras, and South Texas and are not able to do so for various reasons.  As a part of the WINGS ministry, we have a way you can help here at home.

Previously, members of our congregation have helped the girls and women of Estonia create small scrapbooks of their memories and this past spring, the girls in South Texas were given the same opportunity. This year we have committed to doing this for all of our mission trips.

Each girl we want to reach out to will be given a ziploc baggie with a premade 10 page scrapbook, some quotes, stickers, ribbon, and patterned paper.

We need your help in several ways:

  • Donation of supplies:  We are in need of supplies to help us create the books.  At this moment, the biggest need is for supplies for girls from 8-22.  Colorful ribbon, sticker sheets in themes that would interest girls of this age, and 8x8 scrapbook paper are all items we are needing to gather for this project.  Many times you can find these items on sale at JoAnn's, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby for somewhere between $.50-$10.  Additionally, these craft stores run 40 or 50% off coupons in ads and online at least a couple times a month.

If you have any other scrapbooking items you'd like to donate, we can certainly put it to good use!

Please place your donations in the labelled box in the foyer starting on Sunday, April 20th.

  • Donation of time:  We need help putting together both the scrapbooks and the kits.  We will have examples of each so that we can put these together as quickly as possible.  We will be meeting in the teacher workroom/junior high classroom area at 6:30 p.m. on the following nights:

Thursday, April 24th

Monday, April 28th

Thursday, May 8th

Friday, May 9th

Thursday, May 15th

Please, come and join us in putting these kits together.

If you are unable to make any of these times but would like to help out from home, we will have some things that can be checked out and worked on starting on Sunday, April 27th.

Please contact Kim Pyles at (972) 245-5185 or Heather Gunn at (972) 731-4866 with any questions.
