Mission Statement
To foster an environment where both members and visitors of the church of Christ on McDermott Road are made to feel genuinely welcome thus enhancing our ability to satisfy not only their “belonging” needs…but more importantly their spiritual needs.
Scriptural Support
Everyone needs Jesus Christ JOHN 14:6 – “Jesus answered, ‘…No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
God wants all to be saved 2 PETER 3:9 – “The Lord…is patient…not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
We are Christ’s ambassadors 2 CORINTHIANS 5:20-21 – “20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on God’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
We are not to show partiality JAMES 2:1-4, 8-9 – “1My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism. 2Suppose a man comes into you meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, ‘here’s a good seat for you,’ but say to the poor man, ‘You stand there’ or ‘Sit on the floor by my feet,’ 4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?” 8“If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing right. 9But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.”
Rather, we need to welcome all HEBREWS 13:1-2 – “1Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”
2 CORINTHIANS 13:12 – “Greet one another with a holy kiss.”
In a sincere and genuine manner 1 PETER 4:8-10 – “8Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
Ministry Description
The Hospitality Ministry is responsible for the planning, organization, and coordination of programs that will result in the church of Christ on McDermott Road being realized as a body of caring believers who show hospitality to all who come our way. While the ministry will necessarily require the leadership and support of volunteer families and individuals, the ultimate fulfillment of this ministry will be realized when the body, as a whole, develops a persona of hospitality.
The formal activities of the Hospitality Ministry under consideration are:
