Praising God, Following Jesus, Serving Others

Our Identity
The church of Christ on McDermott Road is a family.  Like most families, we are made up of unique individuals, young and old, with a variety of talents and interests.  The common bond that unites this family is the fact that we are children of God and disciples of Jesus Christ.

Because we have found such joy in Jesus, we want to share His message with those around us.  We want to offer to others a nurturing church family that encourages spiritual growth and maturity and reaches out in Christian service to our community.  It is our desire to provide a congregational environment in which Christians can worship together, encourage one another, and grow in faith and love.

The church of Christ on McDermott Road has devoted itself to fulfilling God's will for His church.  It is our conviction that the Bible is God's inspired word and that it reveals His purpose for our lives.  As a congregation influenced by the American Restoration Movement, the McDermott Road church remains committed to modeling our teaching, worship, leadership, and ministries upon the authority of New Testament Scripture.

Our Assemblies
As our guest at McDermott Road, expect to be greeted with a smile and an expression of our genuine appreciation to you for taking the time to visit one of our assemblies.

The purpose of our worship assemblies is to praise and honor God and His Son Jesus for their majesty and greatness.  Coming together for worship also allows us to uplift and encourage one another.

Each Sunday we share in the Lord's Supper, participating in this memorial feast to remember Jesus' sacrifice for our sins.

In our assemblies, a significant amount of time is devoted to offering prayers of thanksgiving and petition to God and to the public reading of Scripture.  Our songs of praise to God are sung congregationally and, in the manner of the early church, we sing without instrumental accompaniment.

Each Sunday a message is shared from Scripture that is intended to proclaim God's truth and its timeless relevance to our lives.  McDermott Road members are given the opportunity to contribute to the work of the congregation.  However, our guests should feel no obligation to participate in this weekly offering.

We provide Bible classes for all ages of children, two staffed nurseries, and challenging studies for adults.

Our History
The existence of the assembly of disciples known as the church of Christ on McDermott Road is the result of the prayers, planning, and diligent efforts of a group of committed Christians with an evangelistic vision.

For several years, it had been a dream of the Waterview Church of Christ in  Richardson, Texas to plant a congregation of the Lord's church in the northern suburbs.  It was their desire to perpetuate the spread of the gospel of Jesus and the growth of His church through the establishment of a vibrant, Biblically-grounded, ministry-oriented body of believers.  The dream has now become a reality.  A great debt of gratitude is owed to the Waterview church for its vision, faith, and commitment.

Our Faith
We believe that Jesus and His atoning sacrifice are the only hope of salvation for a world lost in sin.  We believe that God's grace is extended through the gift of His Son and that it is received through faith in Christ and obedience to His gospel of salvation.

We believe that Christ's one church is composed of the body of believers who have confessed Jesus, have repented for the wrongs in their lives, and have been united with Christ in baptism to receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
